About Bolognese DogsAbout Bolognese Dogs

Bolognese Dogs are a very old breed; images of them have\r\nbeen ancient Roman earthenware. They were considered a very precious dog,\r\nparticularly during the eleventh century.

\r\n\r\nBolognese Dogs are related to small white dogs that\r\nAristote called “Melitensi” and that were largely found in the Mediterranean\r\nregions due to sea trade and the continuous moving of merchant ships from one\r\ncountry to another. During the Renaissance within the nobles it was custom to give\r\nsuch small dogs as a present: it is proved that even Katherine II of Russia\r\nused to have one of these dogs. Nowadays they are not so popular abroad, as\r\nthey are mainly bred in Italy.

\r\n\r\nBolognese Dogsare\r\na small-sized dog, mesomorphic with a short compact body which fits in a\r\nsquare. What makes this breed so particular is the long white reared hair.

\r\n\r\nThey are a typical companion dog, they establishes a\r\nstrict relationship with their master and their family in terms of real need\r\nfor his life. They are very lively and clever, highly skilled at learning\r\nthings, so that they can be easily trained. Untiring playmate, they are\r\nextremely loving; surely the are one of the most suitable breeds to have as a\r\nfamily companion.
