About American Fuzzy Lop Rabbits

American Fuzzy Lop Rabbits are raised for wool. Their woolrnis similar to Angora Rabbits although it is shorter than an Angora’s wool.rnAmerican Fuzzy Lop Rabbits are a combination of French Angora and Holland Lop Rabbits.rnrnPatty Greene-Karl is credited with realizing that thern"fuzzy" gene was recessive, mating two Holland Lops carrying thisrngene resulted in a certain percentage of the offspring (theoretically 25%) withrnfuzzy wool. Patty decided to develop these rabbits as a new breed, named thernAmerican Fuzzy Lop.

rnrnAmerican Fuzzy Lop Rabbits weigh 3-4 lbs. as an adult with arnpreferred weight of bucks at 3.5 lbs. and does at 3.75 lbs. They have a veryrncompact body, which appears very muscular. Their ears do not stand straight up,rnbut rather lop along the side of the face. They have a short and flat muzzlernsimilar to that of a cat. A ridge of cartilage at the top of their head (calledrna crown) causes the ears to fall against the side of the head, as is the casernin most lop breeds.

rnrnAmerican Fuzzy Lop Rabbits are very fuzzy, cute, and makernexcellent pets.rnrn
