Ryeland Sheep have face's that are well-wooled and their ears are of medium size, slightly dark in color. Ryeland's heads have no trace of horn. Its chest is broad and fairly deep and has a straight, level back. Its legs are a dull white color, well wooled to knee and hock with strong, compact feet renowned for freedom from foot rot. Its fleece is dense, free from dark fibers, coarseness and kemp. Average mature ewe weighs 50-60kg, rams 75-80kg.
