The Call Duck is a historic breed of small domestic duck that originated in the Netherlands. It is known for its high-pitched, piercing call, which can be heard from a distance. The breed was used in the past as a decoy duck to lure other ducks into traps. Its origin is believed to be from the Far East, but records of its introduction to the Netherlands do not exist.

The Call Duck is available in approximately 20 different colors, recognized in the Netherlands, UK, and the US. The gray and white varieties were included in the first Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association in 1874, with six other colors added later.

In the 1850s, the Call Duck was introduced to the British Isles, where it quickly became popular. By the mid-20th century, the breed became rare, but was re-popularized by determined breeders. Today, it is a common exhibition bird and wins more duck championships in shows in North America than any other breed. In China, there are even cafes where customers can pet Call Ducks.

In Australia, the Call Duck is considered a separate breed from the rest of the world due to its independent development as a mutation of domestic mallard flocks. It is noticeably larger and has a different color range from North American Call Ducks.
