The Bornean Peacock Pheasant is a rare species of pheasant that is found in the lowland forests of Borneo. These birds are known for their shy behavior, as they prefer to quietly roam the forest floor or roost in trees during the day.
In terms of size, Bornean Peacock Pheasants are medium-sized birds, with females measuring an average of 15 inches in length, while males can grow up to 17 inches.
The female Bornean Peacock Pheasant is generally smaller than the male, with a duller brown plumage and brown iris. They also do not have spurs on their feet.
On the other hand, the male Bornean Peacock Pheasant boasts striking colors, including metallic green eyespots on their tails and wings, a metallic blue-green crest, a purplish-green breast with a white breast patch and throat, and two spurs on their feet.
Both males and females of this species have black legs and feet, a dark green bill, and red bare facial skin.
