Cheer Pheasants, also known as the "Green Pheasant" (scientific name: Phasianus versicolor), are a species of pheasant native to Japan. They are known for their striking appearance, with the males having a green head, neck, and underbelly, and a rich, chestnut brown body. The tail feathers of male Cheer Pheasants can grow up to 90 cm in length, making them one of the longest-tailed species of pheasant.
In their natural habitats, Cheer Pheasants are found in dense forests and wooded areas, where they feed on a variety of plant material, as well as insects and small vertebrates. They are generally solitary birds, except during the breeding season, when they establish territories and engage in courtship displays to attract mates.
