About Haut-Volant DucksAbout Haut-Volant

Duck Breeds

Haut-Volant is a breed of domesticated ducks that are raised primarily for their meat and eggs. The breed is believed to have originated in the area around Hauts-de-France in Northern France, hence the name "Haut-Volant," which means "High-Flying" in English.

Haut-Volant ducks are medium-sized birds with a plump, round body and a relatively short neck. They have a distinctive black bill, orange legs and feet, and a chestnut brown head. They have a calm and docile disposition, making them easy to handle and care for.

Haut-Volant ducks are known for their fast growth rate, good feed conversion efficiency, and excellent meat quality. They are considered a great choice for meat production, and are often used in commercial duck farming operations. They also lay a good number of large, white eggs that are suitable for eating or hatching.

Haut-Volant ducks have a hardy constitution and are relatively disease-resistant, making them a popular choice for small-scale backyard duck keepers. They do well in a range of environments, from confinement to free-range systems, and can be raised in both hot and cold climates.
