Haut-Volant ducks are medium-sized birds with a plump, round body and a relatively short neck. They have a distinctive black bill, orange legs and feet, and a chestnut brown head. They have a calm and docile disposition, making them easy to handle and care for.

Haut-Volant ducks are known for their fast growth rate, good feed conversion efficiency, and excellent meat quality. They also lay a good number of large, white eggs that are suitable for eating or hatching.
