About Jonica GoatsAbout Jonica Goats

Jonica Goats are a domestic goat from the province of Taranto, in southern Italy. It is thought that Jonica Goats originated from the crossing of local varieties with Maltese goats. Jonica Goats are one of the eight autochthonous Italian goat breeds for which a genealogical herdbook is kept by the Associazione Nazionale della Pastorizia, the Italian national association of sheep-breeders. In 2013 there were 232 registered Jonica Goats.
